Adobe Photoshop Tips and Tricks
Have you heard the term "Photo-shopped"? Ever wonder how'd they do that? I'll share some creative tutorials with you here in Adobe Photoshop Tips and Tricks!
Photo within Text
- Open a photo that you'd like to use to fill in across your text.
- Ctrl A (to select all), Ctrl C (to copy), Ctrl N (to create a new file), OK, Ctrl V (to paste)
- Close original photo.
- On left see the "Tools" (single or double column of tool icons...double setting is best! Click on the double arrows at top of tools to change).
- Click on the button that looks like a capital T....Horizontal Type Tool.
- Click on the photo and type a word. Some ideas....USA used with an American flag photo or FLOWER used with a flower photo. Capitalized and bold text is best (more of the photo can be seen). Using one word is ideal.
- Make the text large enough to cover the part of the photo you want to see on the text.
- A tip to make text larger
- Click on the Move Tool (top right on Tools)
- At top, put a check mark on Show Transform Controls
- Hold down Shift and resize text from a corner of the dashed border around the text, using the diagonal double headed arrow
- When resizing in any program, always let go of the mouse first and then the Shift key
- If needed, the best way to Undo is Edit, Step Backward (or Alt Ctrl Z)
- Move text using the Move tool.
- On right see the Layers palette (if not, Window-Layers).
- Drag the text Layer under the photo layer (hold down left click on text layer and drag down until you see double horizontal lines under the photo layer).
- Right click on the Text layer and choose Rasterize Type
- With the text layer already selected hold down the Ctrl key and click on the photo layer. Now both layers are selected.
- Hold down the Alt key and move the mouse to the line between the photo layer and the text layer. See 2 intersecting circles and an arrow, and then click...Presto! You should now see your Photo within your text!
- With both layers selected, right click and choose Merge Layers.
- You can now save and while on the Move tool, you can move or drag your Photo within Text to another Photoshop file!
- Practice...Practice...Practice! More to come.....Lena C.
