WebGear began operations in 1998 as USPTGear serving the U.S. military community. The company's first webstore, www.usptgear.com, provided athletic and casual military apparel to the U.S. Navy's Recruiting Command (and has since expanded to include all branches of the U.S. military).
In 2001, the company began developing a customized inventory, procurement and customer service system to integrate with and support its webstores.
